De La Soul first dropped in 1989 and eventually some Nike Dunk SB’s followed. Fast forward 10 years after the release of the original dunk high and low, and the color schemes have been flipped between the high and low cut for a commemorative release! So, what’s the deal with the sneaker collection (Seinfeld Voice)? Right around 2008, I’d just lost a lot of weight and was in need of an entirely new wardrobe. I was in the process of buying newer, smaller clothes and the time came for a new pair of shoes. Rather than pick some ordinary pair like I normally would, I opted for a more interesting and unique looking pair. The response from others was so strong and positive that I decided to look more into the different kinds of cool sneakers and discovered that collecting sneakers is similar to collecting comics, baseball cards, or any other of the numerous hobbies I had when I was a kid! I’ve been into sneakers ever since – to the extent that I even got an article written about me in the paper! I’ve also been collector of the month in Solecollector Magazine (issue #47)!
I built up a lot of my collection looking for deals on slept-on pairs! I also post deals I find on this very site when I have time.
As for the photography aspect, check out any Sneaker related websites (there are many), and you will typically find posts filled with awesome, artsy footwear shots. I like learning about cameras and taking interesting shots, and it turns out there are actually sites online where you can get recognized for both your collection and photography skills at the same time! You can check out some of my most recent shots below. If you’re curious, I currently shoot with a Nikon D3100 (Amazon link) and mostly use a 50mm lens.
My eBay account is where I list my current sneakers available for sale (if I happen to be selling any).
Here are some quick links to different categories of sneakers:

Familia went with the midwestern theme on this one due to the store’s location and decided on the Paul Bunyan tall tale as the inspiration of the Nike Dunk High SB Blue Ox, basing the theme on Bunyan’s blue ox, Babe.

Once again, here’s a great dunk that everyone slept on and thus became outlet-bound. I was able to grab these Nike Dunk High SB Acapulco Gold (a collaboration between Nike and the clothing brand) for a steal of a price on eBay.

I remember thinking the Tie Dye mids were awesome, and here we have a high top version in the Nike Dunk High SB Tie Dye. Something like this might be more suitable for adult wear, and I’m surprised I was able to get these on sale!

Being born and raised in Oakland, CA, I quickly became familiar with 510 Skate Shop when I started getting into sneakers. This spot was always a cool place, and with Bows and Arrows right across the street, all kinds of limited sneaker releases could be grabbed within a quarter mile radius. These Nike Dunk High SB fiveoneo are a long-awaited collab with this shop.

The Nike Dunk Low SB Sparkle also known as the “Motorcycle Helmets” get their name from the iridescent metallic flake sparkly swoosh and backtab, supposedly inspired by a 70’s motorcycle helmet.
