Nike Dunk Low SB Vamp Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

Back in the day, True Red SB’s used to be called reverse Vampires, as they released around the same time as the inverted Nike Dunk Low SB Vamp colorway.

Or was that the other way around? In any case, the Vamps are a silver box release and easily go for a few hundred bucks on eBay!

Black and red eternally for the win! This shoe looks great with almost anything you want to wear. Light outfit color schemes work well and dark/blackout fits work even better! You can even throw some red into the mix without worrying about overmatching when rocking these Vamps.

It’s tough to top older dunks for extreme comfort when wearing them casually. This particular shoe is probably still popular because it exemplifies the craftsmanship and dope yet simple colorways that are the hallmark of the early Dunk SB line.

How Are The Materials?

Silver box release, great materials. We have a basic leather and suede upper (with a leather tongue), but the quality on these simple materials is superb! I think Nike SB was really starting to hit its stride material-wise during 2003 when these released. The only negative I can say is that the black suede can fade over time, similar to what can happen to Takashis from that same time period. Still, the suede is lush and the leather is supple.

How Do They Fit?

The Nike Dunk Low SB Vamp fit great! They are really comfortable and have a slightly less-stuffed tongue than many SBs (also typical of the silver box era). My current pair is true to size and fits perfectly.
