Nike Dunk Low SB Bison Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

Here we have a classic shoe from the silver box era of dunk SB’s, the Nike Dunk Low SB Bison. The shoe has little to do with the Street Fighter 2 character and instead gets its nickname from the colorway.

These were some of the first silver box SB’s I got in the collection. A cleaner pair would be nice, as these don’t really seem to hold up to aging that well. That said, the shoe is a classic Nike SB and I believe one of the first to use suede on the tongue. I highly recommend tracking a pair of these down if you’re an SB aficionado!

These are definitely a fall shoe overall. Khakis and grey go well with these. If you’re not wearing them in fall (like me, right now), try putting on some dark jeans and a grey top for a basic off-season fit.

Materials

The uppers (including the tongue) are all comprised of very soft suede. This suede is some of the nicest I’ve seen on any shoe! This shoe definitely exudes the quality of the silver box era. The only issue I’ve seen with the materials are fading on the red parts of the suede. These come packaged with red and dark brown laces.

Fit

The Nike Dunk Low SB Bison technically fit true to size. I was able to go a half size down though thanks to the materials, and after a little break in time, these fit great at a half size down. Either way you go, these wind up being one of the more comfy dunk lows I’ve ever worn! Plush and cushy only begin to describe the feeling of this shoe on foot.
