Adidas ZX Reviews

The Adidas ZX line originated in 1984 with the ZX500.  Originally, the brand intended for them to be performance running shoes.  These days, those early models make for some great retro releases!

We even get modern releases in the ZX series with pairs like the ZX Flux or those imbued with modern Boost technology.  I went on quite a binge copping modern retros of pairs like the ZX8000 when Adidas was blessing us with all types of colorways.

Turns out, I’ve owned a few different kinds of ZX, and have written several reviews on them.

Adidas ZX 0000 Evolution WDYWT On Feet

After picking up the Overkill ZX8500s, I wasn’t sure what the next adidas were going to be for the collection. The adidas ZX 0000 is a shoe that was supposed to release 30 years ago, but never did. If my math is correct then 30 years ago means these were supposed to drop in 1991. I normally think late 80s when I think about the ZX thousand model series.

Adidas ZX 530 SPZL Review

Updated January 26, 2020 by Anthony

While the Handball Spezial are a specific Adidas model, the “Spezial” or SPZL line are a set of direct 1-to-1 retros of heritage Adidas models. These Adidas ZX 530 SPZL are an example of a shoe I never heard of receiving this retro treatment.

Adidas ZX500 RM WDYWT

Next boost on the menu after a couple of pairs of Iniki/I-5923 runners are these Adidas ZX 500 RM. Basically, these are an updated version of the classic ZX500 model with boost in the midsole and a refined shape.

Adidas ZX 500 OG Dussan Review

Adidas ZX 500 OG Dussan on feet

Here’s another pair that I used to have in a different colorway but sold off. These Adidas ZX 500 OG Dussan are part of an OG line that attempts to retro a trail running model that originally dropped in 1984.
