Saucony Shadow 5000 Sushi Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

According to Saucony, the shade of green used on these represents wasabi, which make sense, since these are known as the Saucony Shadow 5000 Sushi.

These are the only men’s sneaker out of the “Sushi Pack”, with the other two pairs being women’s Shadow Originals. If nobody had pointed out that these were sushi themed, I would have never guessed, but now that I look at these, I can’t think of anything else! Matter of fact, that settles it, I’m having Sushi at some point this weekend!

Suede and mesh with a leather “S” on the side comprise the materials. Like previous Shadow 5000s I’ve reviewed, the materials and construction on these are not the best Saucony has to offer. Matter of fact, the more Shadow 5K GR’s I cop, the more I’m convinced that these are never about good quality materials or an error-free build and are basically all about the retro look and shape. Which I’m fine with, since for me these are all about the look and shape of the shoe rather than whether the shoe has obvious B-Grade materials and defects.

The Saucony Shadow 5000 Sushi fit true to size and are very comfortable. Basically, shape, fit and comfort are where the Shadow 5000 shines best. If you want something that looks great on foot and will make great beaters, you need look no further than a pair of GR Shadow 5ks, almost always on sale below retail!
