Nike Dunk High SB Venom Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

Nike SB went through this phase where it was always releasing “core” colorways of dunks in black and white, so I should have doubled up on the Nike Dunk High SB Venom.

These dunks have proven to be the best rain beaters in my collection! This particular version is the first release that occurred during the gold box era and features leather and suede uppers. Newer versions came out in the blue box days and were a little stiffer with the new dunk tooling.

This is basically the perfect dunk SB. Simple colorway with decent materials that always looks good, even when wrecked. Like I said, I kind of wish I had another pair now that I’ve subjected these to multiple rainy day wears. It’s to the point where throwing the white laces in would just be silly!

These are very comfortable as this gold box release version still uses the old dunk tooling and softer materials. I can’t speak to subsequent drops of this colorway, but I can assume that they are a bit stiffer and shaped a tad differently. I would definitely go true to size on those, whereas on these you could probably go down a half size and still be ok.
