Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Black Toe Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

Today I’m sporting a retro of an original Air Jordan 1 colorway known as the “black toes”. These have retro’d a few times but never in the high cut of the OG until 2013 with the release of the Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Black Toe.

There’s not a lot to say about this shoe other than that it’s clean and doesn’t get quite as much hype as the popular Bred and Royal colorways. It is one of the OG colorways that I had to have, along with the Royals, Chicagos and Breds.

The material used on the upper is leather, and these came with white and black laces. The materials here are ok, but not as good as some later retros on the AJ1. The leather is decent, but nothing to write home about.

The fit on these is standard Air Jordan 1 narrowness. Go true to size and expect somewhat of a break in time before these get comfortable enough to walk long distances in. Right out of the box I’d avoid wearing these for too long at a time.
