Air Jordan 1 High OG Royal Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector. Updated: 01-27-2017

The Air Jordan 1 High OG Royal is definitely one of those shoes that everyone wants, and thus immediately sell out and become very expensive to buy second hand.

2013 Air Jordan 1 High OG Royal

Just like other pairs of the OG highs that have recently released with Nike Air on the tongue, these didn’t last more than a few seconds when they became available online. Seeing as these are an OG colorway of the AJ1 and they have the OG branding on the tongue, the resale value of these is fairly ridiculous, so it all comes down to how badly you want this shoe!

Personally I feel like all OG 1s make great sneakers for a shoe collection and the Royals are kind of a quirky colorway for an original released in the 80s. After all, there’s no Bulls colors to be found on them!

Materials (2013 Royals)

The materials are pretty good on these! Jordan brand had not yet gone into their “remastered” materials phase, but the leather used on these is still really nice.

Overall, the different panels seem thick and of good quality. The texture is pretty much smooth leather throughout, with a nylon tongue. The included laces are black and royal blue.

Fit

Like most Air Jordan 1s, the Air Jordan 1 High OG Royal are passably comfortable, but definitely not cushy or lightweight. Most AJ1s are more about the look than the comfort anyway. Make sure you go at least true to size on these!
