Adidas Tubular X Core Black Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

Many have already referred to the Tubular X as a “poor man’s Yeezy Boost 750”, while Adidas’ website claims that the shoe takes its inspiration from the Forum with the addition of a Tubular outsole and the “X” design on the side.

Regardless, I was feeling these from the pictures online and had to grab these right when they dropped. Unfortunately, Eastbay had these on backorder and eventually cancelled my purchase. I wound up eventually getting a pair.

These are the kind of shoe that could only release at the peak of Nike Air Yeezy Hype coinciding with sock-shoes being in style. Overall I’m digging the Adidas Tubular and this version provides an opportunity to get a hightop boot that looks extremely dope on foot.

Adidas eventually released a primeknit version of these. Apparently, this “regular” version is much heavier than that, thanks to the thick rough knit mesh upper and nubuck on the “X”. The material here is definitely sturdy and durable feeling.

I went true to size on the Adidas Tubular X Core Black and these feel a little big, but not loose. The comfort is the same solid support underfoot as the normal Tubular model.
