Sk8-His are one of those shoes that I could wear every day if I had to. I’ve never owned a pair of zips though, so I’m stoked to have these Vans Sk8-Hi Zip Starfish in the collection!
Basically, these add a zipper to the back that helps in getting the shoe on and off. The shoe gets the Starfish name from the colorway.
Now that I have a pair in hand, I can honestly say people are sleeping on these. The zipper not only adds extra functionality to the shoe, it brings a bit of modern style and flair too. Most importantly though, it makes getting the shoe on and off less of a pain!
How Are The Materials?
WOW! The materials on these are stunning. I heard the quality of the zips was off the chain, but photos online don’t do these justice. The suede used is very soft and buttery, really amazing for a sneaker at this price point. The leather is soft and has that subtle texture to it that evokes a premium level of materials. All in all I couldn’t be more pleasantly surprised at the materials on these.
How Do They Fit?
The Vans Sk8-Hi Zip Starfish fit true to size and are fairly comfortable. Most Sk8-His are kind of a pain to get on and off thanks to all the eyelets. In this case, we have a convenient zipper on the back that makes slipping these on and off a snap! I’m not sure why all Sk8-His (and Nike Blazers for that matter) don’t come with zippers already. It’s almost 2017 people! Anyway, I highly recommend getting a pair of Sk8-Hi Zips, even if it’s in another colorway, just so you can experience the quality and convenience of this modern take on a classic silhouette.
