The Vans Sk8-Hi Checkerboard is a classic Vans motif on a classic Vans silhouette.
Normally, Vans works up their checkerboard patterns in black and white. Which makes them look really 80’s, but this particular pair is a little more low key. For me, this makes them perfect for work!
Vans always pumps out dope colorways on slept on shoes. At the end of the day, this definitely falls in both categories!
Materials
The materials are suede with the canvas checkerboard and leather stripe. The materials are all very thick and the shoe has a durable feel to it. I’m not sure how these would hold up to the rigors of skateboarding as I don’t skate. I do know that the midsole on Sk8-His is almost universally tough to keep clean. Either way, for casual wear the materials are nice. The suede feels decently soft too for a pair of Vans!
Fit
The Vans Sk8-Hi Checkerboard fit true to size. I highly recommend against sizing down. On the shelf, Vans look like they would fit big. However, if you size down, your pinky toes will regret it! Assuming the correct size is purchased, these are very nice for casual wear. The cushioning is great and really helps make these extra comfortable!
