The Vans Era Stub x Dime Taupe is a collaborative effort between Vans and Dime, a skate and streetwear brand founded in Montreal in 2005. This release introduces the Era Stub, a brand-new silhouette that debuted in a small pack alongside a flax/wheat-colored pair, and serves as a modern reinterpretation of one of Vans’ most iconic models.
The original Vans Era first released in 1976, and the Era Stub takes that foundation and tweaks it with updated proportions. The biggest visual change is the significantly shortened toe box paired with an elongated lace bed that jumps from 5 to 8 eyelets, giving the shoe its intentionally “stubby” appearance. This version sticks closely to Dime’s clean, minimalist design language. Branding is kept tasteful with a Dime logo on the heel, fading foxing stripes that point toward the branding, and a small checker tag popping up along the side for a classic Vans touch.
I grabbed these for $67 shipped from No-Comply, which felt like a great deal—especially since it’s been a while since I’ve had Vans in the rotation. Coming back to the brand with a newer silhouette and a recent collab made this pickup even better. The taupe colorway is super clean and easy to wear, and I really like Vans taking a risk by refreshing the Era on this model.
Packaging comes in an orangey-yellow co-branded box, and the shoes ship with off-white laces installed, plus a spare matching pair.
Materials
We get a mix of suede and canvas here, which is pretty standard for Vans but still solid for a collab. The materials won’t blow anyone away, but the construction feels appropriate for a skate-focused shoe. At this price point, the quality is exactly where it should be for a Vans x Dime release.
Fit & Comfort
I went true to size, and these fit as expected. Like most Vans, there’s a bit of a break-in period, but step-in comfort is actually pretty good right out of the box thanks to the PopCush insoles. Overall comfort is fine for a few hours of casual wear, though I probably wouldn’t wear these all day.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
