Sneakersnstuff X Asics GT-Cool Xpress Review

Updated August 2, 2018 by Anthony

I like expanding the collection with wacky Asics models I wouldn’t have thought to buy off top. I used to own one black and red pair a long time ago. Given that these Sneakersnstuff X Asics GT-Cool Xpress are a collab, I figure its a good pair to dip my toes in the water on this odd silhouette.

These are based off of “a day at the beach” and feature a sand and waves graphic on the insoles.

As I’ve said in the past, I dig blue kicks a lot, but they can be tough to match. In this case, I’m playing off the intended summery vibe of the shoe with some beige shorts and a white tee. I think keeping a simple outfit with these is going to help with not looking overly clunky. These kicks can look quite long on foot, so be aware of the overall look you are going for before you step out of the house with these. As always, let the shoes do the talking!

How Are The Materials?

The materials are kind of meh on these. Given the low amount of branding or hype for the shoe, I get the feeling SNS didn’t spend too much time making sure these are quality. The suede is passable, definitely thick if not supremely soft. I guess overall the materials aren’t bad, I was just expecting more from a collab.

How Do They Fit?

These Sneakersnstuff X Asics GT-Cool Xpress are hard to get on, but once they are laced up, they are very comfy at true to size. I can squeeze my foot in at a half size down and they are still fairly comfortable. The fit reminds me of Asics with similar tongue setups such as the Gel-Lyte V. The shape on these is ok, however I did get the iron out and reshape these a bit before throwing them on foot!

Overall I feel like these are ok. Besides the wacky model choice and the white inner side panel showing a unique bit of contrast, the collab feels a bit low effort although it does fall in line with other water-themed SNS collabs. If you’re interested in the GT-Cool, these are probably a good starter kick though, especially if you like the fit of the Gel-Lyte V but just want something a little different.
