Saucony Azura Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

The last pair of Sauconys I picked up were the Feature x Fossil Shadow 6000s. The brand showed me some love back, sending me these Saucony Azura in advance of their release!

The shoes originally came out in 1988 and so these are a 30th anniversary release that marks the start of several bringback silhouettes to release over the next year.

These give off a strong Golden State Warriors vibe. Saucony actually sent me several matching bits of clothing, but if you don’t have that, these will still be easy to style. Retro runners in colorways like these look great with either sweatpants/joggers or denim. I’d choose light or dark wash denim but avoid black and khaki with these. It could still work, but blue jeans I think works a bit better. Match it up with a white or grey top (or even black) and you’re good to go! These will look dope with a track jacket or any of that type of material in the outfit, if you have it.

This is yet another milestone for me and I’ve been repping Saucony for a while! Super stoked they sent me these in advance of the release and hopefully I can get the chance to expose you all to an upcoming sneaker more often! I highly recommend checking for Saucony in the next year as they have a bunch of heat dropping!

How Are The Materials?

The materials are suede and different types of mesh. The mesh on the side has this horizontal knit to it. The suede used is the felt suede, fairly sandpapery to the touch. To be honest, these kicks are more about aesthetic than super buttery materials. They’re going for a more true to the 80s look and feel, so super lush suede on these would have been a mismatch. For what these are, the materials are passable.

How Do They Fit?

The Saucony Azura fit slightly big, so I went with my normal Saucony size of 9.5 (as opposed to the 10 I get in many Nikes) and they fit perfectly. The multiple meshes ensure the shoe doesn’t get too warm and these are comfortable and lightweight. The shape is decent right out of the box, but I gave them a slight reshape anyway.
