Top 5 Rare SB Dunk Lows In My Collection

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

I started my collection with Nike SB. After over a decade of collecting, here are 5 rare SB Dunk Lows currently in my collection.

5 Rare SB Dunk Lows That Heat Up Any Collection

Five legendary SB Dunk Lows to collect include the Tiffanys, Stussys, Heinekens, Supremes and Medicoms.

Of course, there are many more great Nike SBs to grab, but I’m basing this off of my collection. If I were to list my favorite SB Dunk Lows, this list would have at least 20 pairs on it! It’s tough narrowing it down, but these are pairs that I think I’d still hang onto, even if I had to sell everything else.

By the way, if you want a pair of SB Dunks for yourself but are struggling to get a pair, check out this article.

Rare Nike SB Dunk Low #1 – Tiffany

Tiffanys, or “Tiffs” are a collab with Diamond Supply Company and part of a series of releases that also include the Stussy dunks. They’ve released hightop versions and had the colorway on other models, but the SB’s are the classic pair.

Probably my all-time favorite Nike SB Dunk

These were my first piece of real “heat” after beginning my collection in the late 2000s. When I first started, these were among the most popular SB’s you could get.

Back then, I paid around $300, and I thought that was a lot! These days, the sneakers routinely fetch over $2,000.

Around the time I started collecting, Diamond Supply Co was hot. I saw (and rocked) their tees and hats everywhere. The Diamond logo on the tongue tag of these reminds me of their designs to this day.

The Tiffany bag blue is a fairly distinct color that has now permeated into many areas of fashion, but back then, we didn’t really see too much of it around on clothing. Add in the chrome swoosh and croc skin texturing on this sneaker, and you have a luxurious and unique look that stands the test of time.

Rare Nike SB Dunk Low #2 – Stussy

For a while, the Stussy SB Dunks took a backseat to the Tiffany colorway that released around the same time. These days, they are among the most popular older colorways available!

This is a pair that has shot up in resale value
and popularity over a decade after it’s initial
release.

Many times, these outpace the Tiffs in value, although until the late 2010s they hadn’t been seen as that crazy of a collab.

As Nike SB was re-emerging in popularity, celebs started rocking Stussys and it became a perfect storm. I’m glad I got my pair for a little over $200 in the day. Now they go for 10-15x that amount!

The shoes are inspired by Neopolitan ice cream with a waffle cone print on the insoles and an image of a cherry on the tongue tag. The colorway definitely evokes that vibe with the chocolate, strawberry and vanilla shades being the prominent colors used.

The Stussy clothing brand had gone the same way as the Diamond Supply Co brand for a while, losing popularity over time as fashion styles changed. Unlike DSC however, Stussy has had a bit of a comeback in recent years. These days it seems like their brand is going strong, almost as if it had never dipped in popularity at all!

Rare Nike SB Dunk Low #3 – Heineken

These shoes were never supposed to see the light of day! Born of an unofficial collab, the Heineken Dunk Lows were scrapped, but pairs made it out there regardless.

It feels great to have a pair that is so rare that
it was never supposed to come out in the first
place.

This could have been just a fire old SB colorway in a sharp red, white, green and black color scheme. However, that little star on the heel makes this a clear call out to the popular beer brand.

I never thought I would have this shoe, and had written them off as too expensive back in the day. Luckily, I eventually found a lightly used pair. I think I paid a little over $400 for these in the height of my grail hunts in the 2010s. These days, they go for 10x that or more!

It’s not just about the rarity though; this is a great quality Dunk. The suede/nubuck textures are very soft on this pair and it’s a shame they were scrapped. I could see these being a really popular colorway even as a regular quickstrike instead of a rare unreleased set of kicks. That said, there have been rumors that these will rerelease at some point. However, its almost a guarantee that rereleased colorways won’t have the same shape or material quality as the standards have changed for these things with Nike SB over the years.

Rare Nike SB Dunk Low #4 – Supreme

There have been a few Supreme collabs with Nike SB, however when it comes to classics, the white and black pairs stand above the rest.

The MOST expensive pair in my collection!

If you ever wondered what the most expensive pair in my collection is value-wise, look no further! The White Supremes are one of two “original” Supreme collabs with Nike SB.

This pair is based off of of the True Blue Air Jordan 3. Some claim they are based on White Cement 3s, which does make sense except, why the blue ankle liner? Maybe these are truly a combo of both colorways rolled up into one SB Dunk Low.

Rumor has it that there are only 500 of these in the world! How is that for rare SB Dunk Lows? This is another pair I never thought I’d have, and I grabbed it at the end of my grail hunting days. I think they’re the last “older” pair I grabbed, having originally released in 2002. I paid over $500 for them, and now they tend to go for over $5,000 in many sizes!

Rare Nike SB Dunk Low #5 – Medicom

You had to be a member of toy maker Medicom’s website to buy these when they initially released. To this day, Medicom collabs comprise a series of some of the most rare SB Dunk Lows out there!

These were tough to get when they released and
exceedingly rare!

This first Medicom collab is a pair I initially was not looking for. I had purchased a pair of the Goretex Dunk SB Lows and had no idea they are part of the Medicom series. Eventually I found out and got the urge to collect all the Medicoms!

This proved to be a very difficult task, especially procuring the first and second colorways in the series. While I eventually abandoned owning the full series as a goal, I did manage to get these before I stopped trying! I remember paying around $500 or so for these and they have roughly quadrupled in value since then.

The leather quality and colorway on these is great, and stands out in the line of official Medicom releases. Excluding the 3 Bears series, most Medicoms are white, grey or black and fairly monotone. These however have eye catching blue accents and some subtle orange hits as well. Add in that Medicom logo and you know it’s official!

I spent a good amount of time hunting down grails during my sneaker collecting career. Although I wouldn’t pay the exorbitant prices of these pairs today, I’m glad I grabbed them when I did as they do make great pieces for the collection. I love all these kicks and I don’t feel the need to chase down any other grails with these in the stacks!
