The Puma Suede XL x Carrots Scavenger Hunt is part of a wider collaborative pack with Anwar Carrots, a lifestyle label out of LA founded in the mid-2010s. Carrots is known for their collabs, and this one might just have flown a bit under the radar!
The Suede XL debuted in early 2024 as a beefed-up reinterpretation of the original silhouette, pulling from late ’90s and early 2000s skate culture rather than performance running trends. The model takes the classic Puma Suede and pushes it in a chunkier, Y2K skate-inspired direction.
This pair leans into Carrots’ playful storytelling, with the theme centered around a scavenger hunt rather than an obvious carrot graphic takeover. The orange upper and green laces definitely nod to the brand’s signature palette, but the real fun is in the hidden details – most notably the gold-outlined Carrots logo pressed just above the midsole toward the rear shoe. Additional hits include a “C” on the left heel tab and co-branded tongue tags and insoles, all subtle branding that rewards closer inspection without being over the top.
I was originally eyeing the TMNT Puma Suede XL collab, but these felt a bit more wearable for everyday use. I’ve always liked orange on sneakers when it’s done right, and this hits that sweet spot of “Carrots colors” without feeling costume-y. At just $53 shipped, it was an easy way to try the Suede XL silhouette while also checking off another solid collaboration for the collection.
Packaging comes in a white and orange co-branded box and includes green laces pre-installed, plus extra white and orange pairs – all finished with gold aglets. There’s also a co-branded commemorative card featuring Super PUMA, a vintage brand mascot from the 1970s, which is a nice retro touch.
Materials
As the name suggests, this one is all about suede. The upper features a nicely textured, hairy suede that feels appropriate for a collaboration, paired with a straightforward but solid overall build. Nothing overly complex here, but the execution is clean – and at the price I paid, the material quality easily justifies the pickup.
Fit & Comfort
These are definitely clompers. The Suede XL takes the already hefty feel of a Puma Suede and dials it up with extra padding, giving it a much more skate-shoe-like presence on foot. Comfort is decent but not exceptional – fine for a couple hours of casual wear, though not something I’d choose for all-day use.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
