Puma Suede VTG x PAM Review

Updated December 20, 2025 by Anthony

The Puma Suede VTG x PAM brings a fresh, experimental twist to one of Puma’s most iconic silhouettes through a collaboration with Australian-based fashion label Perks and Mini (PAM). This pair is part of a small run of Puma x PAM releases and leans into the “Bioverse” theme, which is reflected in the organic color choices and floral graphics found on the packaging.

The Puma Suede itself dates back to 1968. The Suede VTG version aims to bring the model closer to its roots in terms of proportions, slightly refined paneling, and subtle retro details. On this PAM pair, those updates include cobranded hits on the heel, tongue, and insoles, a speckled midsole, and a unique toe overlay that nods to the Puma Palermo, giving the classic Suede a noticeably different look.

I really dug the color blocking on these and have been slowly circling back to Puma after years of ignoring the brand. I’ve been browsing Shoebacca pretty heavily lately, and when I saw this pair sitting in my size for just $38 shipped, it was an easy decision. The paneling feels experimental without being overdone, and it’s a cool change of pace for the Suede.

The shoes come in a special cobranded box featuring Bioverse-inspired floral graphics and include both yellow and red lace options.

Materials

As expected, the upper is built primarily from suede. While it’s not quite at the level of Puma’s Made in Japan releases, the suede is still decent, if not particularly soft, and totally appropriate for a collaboration like this. When you factor in the price paid, the material quality feels like a huge win and delivers excellent value.

Fit & Comfort

Fit is standard Puma Suede—true to size, a bit clunky, and very old school. There’s no modern cushioning here, just a slab of rubber underfoot, so comfort is dated but not uncomfortable for casual wear. Definitely not an all-day or athletic shoe, but perfectly fine for relaxed, everyday use.

If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
