Puma Basket x Butter Goods Review

Updated December 30, 2025 by Anthony

The Puma Basket x Butter Goods is a collaboration with Butter Goods, the Australian skate and streetwear brand founded in Perth in 2008. This pair originally ties back to a wider footwear and apparel rollout that kicked off in 2021, inspired by late ’90s and early 2000s sports advertising aesthetics. This specific Basket released in a follow-up pack the year after, shifting the focus toward Butter Goods’ strong connection to music culture.

The Puma Basket itself debuted in 1971 as the leather alternative to the Puma Suede, offering a slightly cleaner and more refined take on the same classic low-top silhouette. On this collab, we get Butter Goods co-branding on the tongue tag and insole, along with a globe graphic stamped on the back tab, keeping the design subtle but purposeful.

I mainly grabbed these because I wanted to try a pair of Puma Baskets, and doing that through a collab with a brand I like made it an easy decision. The off-white colorway looks super clean on foot, and at $33 shipped, this was an absolute no-brainer—basically the cost of a fancy lunch. Hard to beat that kind of value.

The sneaker comes in a white and multicolor co-branded box and includes off-white laces.

Materials

While the Basket is traditionally the leather counterpart to the Puma Suede, this pair switches things up with a corduroy upper. It’s a unique and unexpected choice that gives the shoe a classy, textured look while still feeling very casual. Construction is simple, but the corduroy does a lot of the heavy lifting aesthetically. A leather liner adds a premium touch, which is something Puma often does well on their collabs. Overall the pair is simple but exudes quality which is a reason I’ve been going to old Puma collabs for maximum value.

Fit & Comfort

These fit similarly to the Puma Suede at true to size. Underfoot cushioning is basic, with most of the comfort coming from the insole and the flexible nature of the upper. Nothing groundbreaking here, but they’re perfectly fine for a few hours of casual wear at a time.

If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
