The Nike SB Dunk Low Mineral Slate is a straightforward general release that gets its name from the colorway, pairing muted tones with a slightly offbeat mix of hues. This SB Dunk Low skate shoe leans on a subtle but quirky combination of green, pink, and darker accents, giving it just enough personality while still being easy to wear casually.
Launched in 2002, the Nike SB Dunk reworked the original 1985 Nike Dunk for skateboarding by adding padded tongues, Zoom Air cushioning, and improved traction. Over time, it’s become one of the most recognizable skate sneakers and streetwear staples, with releases ranging from simple GRs like this to high-profile collaborations.
I don’t always need to go for collab SBs, and I’ve always appreciated a solid GR when the colorway hits. The green and light pink combo here is a bit different but works really well in my opinion. I had seen some New Balance pairs attempt a similar mix with tan thrown in, but these feel more dialed in. That unique color balance made these an easy pickup as the shade of pink is not particularly vivid or out of place but adds character to the colorway. They come in the standard Nike SB purple box and include two sets of SB laces, one in Particle Rose and the other in Dark Raisin.
Materials
Material-wise, the upper is built with suede and a leather Swoosh. The suede isn’t especially buttery, but it’s still soft enough and has that reliable Nike SB feel that tends to hold up well over time. Overall, materials are solid for a general release skate sneaker, with no real complaints given the price point.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is standard SB Dunk Low sizing. I usually go half a size up to account for the padded tongue and snug feel, though true to size can still work depending on preference. Underfoot, you get the usual Zoom Air cushioning in the heel, which provides decent comfort. These are good for a couple hours of casual wear or skating, but not something I’d personally wear all day.
