The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro x Bronx Girls Skate is a collaborative release with Bronx Girls Skate, drawing heavy inspiration from New York City transit lines. Founded in 2020 by Mel Ramirez and Kava Vasquez, Bronx Girls Skate was created to support and spotlight the growing women’s skate scene in the Bronx.
The Nike SB Dunk traces its roots back to the early 2000s, when Nike reworked the original ’80s basketball Dunk into a skate-ready silhouette that became a cornerstone of skate and sneaker culture.
This pair stands out through its extensive storytelling and detailing, including colored piping around the panels inspired by the subway lines BXGS rides throughout the city, with green, orange, and red edge highlights. A semi-translucent outsole continues the theme with BXGS branding and a subway train graphic, while “The Bronx, The World” appears on the heel. Additional details include door-knocker earring–inspired NY hangtags on the back tabs, BXGS dubraes, co-branded tongue tags, and insole artwork featuring a poetic message written by Mel and Kava alongside maps of New York and the world.
I love an SB quickstrike collaboration, and this one immediately stood out to me. It even reminds me a bit of the Alife x Saucony Shadow 6000, though I think this pair executes the NYC transit inspiration even better. I ended up selling those Sauconys, and this feels like a stronger and more thoughtful homage to the train system in New York. Between the stingray-textured upper, the color accents, and the sheer amount of detail throughout the shoe, this was an easy pickup straight from SNKRS on release day at retail.
The sneaker comes in a white Nike SB quickstrike box and includes black SB laces, along with black and white flat laces that feature Bronx Girls Skate printed near the aglets. The extra lace options fit the theme well and add another layer of detail to an already packed release.
Materials
Material-wise, the shoe is constructed from stingray-textured pebbled leather, paired with a white leather Swoosh. The appeal here isn’t about buttery softness, but rather the uniqueness of the leather choice and the quality of the overall build. In hand, the shoe feels solid, well-constructed, and clearly treated as a special release rather than a standard SB Dunk.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is a bit snug at true to size, mainly due to the added padding typical of SB Dunk Lows. Like most SBs, I personally prefer going half a size up for a more comfortable fit. Underfoot, the Zoom Air provides that familiar snappy feel, and step-in comfort is solid. These work well for casual wear for a few hours at a time, especially once they start to break in.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
