Keeping in line with consistency, after grabbing the UNC colorway, I had to come back for the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low Lance Mountain.
This line of collaborations pays homage to the times when Nike team skaters were gifted Jordan 1s, before Nike SB was a line of its own. The colorway is inspired by Lance Mountain, who rocked khakis with mismatched UNC and Royal Air Jordan 1s in an old skate video.
These have the standard black/teal Nike SB quickstrike box and come packaged with white, black and light blue laces. The most obvious feature with these is that the upper material wears off to reveal the same UNC/Royal 1 mismatch (but in a lowtop version) as what Lance Mountain wore. The right insole has graphics based on the art on a wall that LM rode in the video while the left is based on the basketball court that the scene takes place at.
When I saw photos of these online, I did not like them, and it wasn’t until I saw them in person that I realized just how much the underlying colors (particularly the UNC blue) pop against that canvas upper. The shoe is definitely way nicer up close in real life as opposed to how they appear on the internet. I’m definitely glad I changed my mind on these and picked them up!
How Are The Materials?
These basically have a canvas upper that wears off to reveal a leather beneath. I’m not going to be able to comment on the leather here. I have not worn off the top nor seen a worn pair in hand. If it’s anything like the previous UNC lows, it should be decent enough. The canvas seems sturdy even though it is meant to wear off, and looks way better in hand than in most photos that I’ve seen online. Overall I’d say the quality seems good on these, although time will tell regarding the quality of the underlying materials.
How Do They Fit?
These Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low Lance Mountain fit true to size. I like extra room on SBs though so I went a half size up. This results in a slightly loose, but very comfortable fit. The bigger size helps combat the stiffer canvas upper a bit. At this size, these are fairly comfy to wear for a couple of hours.
