The Nike SB Air Force 1 Light Orewood Brown takes the classic Air Force 1 and reworks it through a skateboarding lens, similar in concept to other SB crossovers like the SB-modified Air Max models. This pair gets its name from the colorway and presents a clean, neutral look that works well as both a skate shoe and casual lifestyle sneaker.
Originally designed in 1982 by Bruce Kilgore, the Nike Air Force 1 was the first basketball shoe to feature Nike Air cushioning and has since become a staple in streetwear. Nike SB, launched in 2002, is best known for adapting classic Nike silhouettes like the Nike SB Dunk for skateboarding. Here, the two come together, with the AF1 receiving SB-specific updates that make it more functional on a board.
This version includes several performance tweaks over a standard AF1, such as a padded and reinforced tongue, a slightly reduced midsole for better board feel, and a modified herringbone outsole for grip. There are also internal fit pods for a more secure lockdown, along with subtle branding changes like an “SB-1” dubrae, Nike SB Air Force 1 tongue tag, and Nike SB branding on the heel. The insole features a pink graphic of the AF1 outsole, adding a small visual detail inside the shoe.
I’ve been looking forward to this SB/AF1 crossover, and this first colorway didn’t disappoint. The suede upper with the gum sole gives it a clean look that reminds me of the Pale Ivory Pro B. I had some credits built up at Premier, which helped me grab these for under retail shipped, making it an easy pickup.
These come in the purple Nike SB box and include matching Light Orewood Brown oval laces, along with an extra set in a Pink Foam color. The laces themselves sit somewhere between the chunkier SB Dunk ovals and the thinner oval laces you’d see on runners. We get a card explaining the upgrades. Finally, the included dubraes match the upper, tying everything together.
Materials
Material-wise, the upper is made up of a premium Light Orewood Brown suede, paired with a Pink Foam leather hit on the backtab. The suede feels soft and well done, and overall the build quality is impressive for the price point. This feels like a step up from a standard GR AF1 in terms of materials and execution.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is a bit different from the usual Air Force 1. These don’t have that oversized, roomy feel—instead, they fit more true to size with a secure, slightly more contained shape. Underfoot, you still get an Air unit in the heel, but no Zoom Air here. Comfort is solid for a few hours of casual wear or skating, with the updated structure giving the shoe a more supportive feel overall.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
