Nike Dunk Low Team Red Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

The Nike Dunk Low Team Red are the latest re-release on the Nike site as far as Dunks go. I was glad to be able to take advantage this time around. They went from instantly selling out to full size run available on Nike’s website within the span of 2 years.

The nickname for these obviously comes from the colorway. You have a basic 2-tone set up here, although the outsole seems to be a slightly different shade of red than that found on the overlays. Regardless, the simple color blocking really shines on the Dunk.

I felt like given my work “dress code” of black/white/red/silver, these fit perfectly for a low key day at the office. Although I am known as the “sneaker fanatic” at work and have gotten away with wearing some wild colorways there, sometimes I just want to blend in and go unnoticed. These should help with that.

These come in the plain Nike sportswear box with the stretchy team red laces. This is pretty typical for sneakers at this tier level (i.e. the lowest tier of Dunks Nike makes).

The $115 price point at retail indicates that these are about as plain and lacking in quality as any other general Dunk release. If you like the colorway, these are worth a shot, but do not expect quality on a sneaker like this.

Materials

Thin, shiny plasticky leather is what makes up the upper on these. This is just like other GR Dunks I’ve picked up recently. Kicks like these are perfect when you don’t want to tiptoe around town trying not to scuff up the materials on a premium pair. Just throw these on, beat em up, and wipe em down when you get home. Unless you majorly scuff or scar these, they should look pretty good with a low-effort cleaning.

Fit & Comfort

Dunks have a somewhat roomy fit, starting off feeling stiff and narrow, but quickly breaking in. I found these to be comfortable after I had a chance to wear them around for a few minutes. They initially feel a bit narrow on the bridge of the foot, but give way to a nice spacious toebox after wearing them.

I just always get these Dunks at true to size. No need to guess or mess around. Anyone who has worn some basic Dunks within the last few years already knows how these will feel on foot. No next-level comfort, but comfy enough to wear for a little while at a time.

If these are sold out in stores, you can try looking for them on eBay.
