Nike Dunk Low Frankenstein Review

Updated November 5, 2025 by Anthony

The Nike Dunk Low “Frankenstein” (as many are calling it) brings a stitched-up, patchwork vibe to the classic Dunk silhouette — though not everyone agrees on the nickname. Officially, Nike hasn’t confirmed the “Frankenstein” title, but the mix of earthy tones, jagged detailing, and stitched accents make the name fit. This pair dropped as part of a small two-shoe pack, with the other colorway leaning more toward a clean black, white, and blue look.

The design really stands out among recent Dunk releases. Nike replaced the traditional perforations on the toebox with stitched “+” symbols, added extra jagged stitching along the wings, and went with a sewn-in Swoosh rather than the usual overlay. Between the olive, brown kelp, and black tones, this pair has that monster-like patchwork energy without going too over the top.

I knew I had to get these the moment I saw early photos. The mix of tan and olive instantly gave me Hulk, Slam City, and Travis Scott SB Dunk vibes all at once — a color combo that just works. That combination of earthy and moody tones hits a nice balance, and for a general release Dunk, these feel surprisingly creative.

These come in a standard orange Nike box, nothing fancy. Inside, you get two sets of fuzzy laces in brown kelp and medium olive — a small but thoughtful touch that ties back to the textured theme, similar to what we saw on the Panda-Monium Dunks I reviewed earlier.

Materials

The upper combines suede and canvas, although the “canvas” overlays aren’t as rugged as typical canvas sneakers — more of a textured fabric than a heavy weave. The variation in textures gives the shoe some depth. Suede is on the fuzzier side and vaguely reminds me of carpet. The quality feels fine for the price point — not premium, but solidly executed and above the most basic GR level.

Fit & Comfort

Fit is the usual Dunk Low fit: a little roomy but still fine at true to size. Comfort is basic — enough padding for casual wear, but don’t expect performance cushioning. I stick with true to size and they feel just right after a short break-in.

If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
