The black box era saw the release of the Fallen Heroes pack, with SB’s paying tribute to MC Hammer, Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice and this Nike Dunk High SB Pee Wee Herman.
These are the only high tops in the pack and feature a print on the insole of Pee Wee in a theater – paying homage to the incident that tarnished his career. The colorway is based off of Herman’s traditional grey suit and red bow tie.
I think when when talking about concepts for a sneaker, the Fallen Heroes pack is a smart way to have a tongue-in-cheek inspiration for a shoe. Some SB’s are a bit of a stretch as far as an interesting basis for a shoe’s colorway. In this case however, the effect is delivered plainly via the insole graphic and color scheme.
The Nike SB Dunk High Pee Wee Has Excellent Suede!
The suede on these is buttery! The material quality is quite good for black box dunks and makes these one of the better dunks that released during that era. The shoes also feature nice smooth leather on the toebox and swoosh. Very well put together shoe overall!
Fit
The Nike Dunk High SB Pee Wee Herman fit true to size. Some may be able to get away with a half size down thanks to the suede around the toebox adding some extra give. However the smooth leather holds everything in place quite well, so true to size is still the safest bet. We have old school SB quality which means these are very cushy and very comfortable with pillowy padding and pliable uppers.
