The 1999 Nike Dunk High LE Kentucky is probably one of the most straightforward white and blue kicks out there.
The original “be true to your school” or BTTYS dunks first came out in the mid-80s for NCAA teams to wear.
The Kentucky name comes from the colorway of the shoe originally being based off the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team when the dunks first dropped.
It’s almost too easy to figure out what to rock with some dunks like these. You could do white tee and khakis or a dark outfit with a black top but I think for the summer these kicks really get their shine on in a lighter outfit.
There was a point where I was trying to get all the ’99 dunks but eventually gave up. Still, I’m glad I was able to come up on a pair of these. There is now a newer retro floating around, so if you can’t find this older pair, try those! The shape will be a little boxier and the materials won’t be as nice, but the same effect will be there. Highly recommend this colorway in a dunk high!

The leather on 1999 Dunk High LEs is very nice. You can still see the quality all these years later.
The nylon tongues are typical of these LE dunks from 1999 and will yellow with time. I personally think this gives these kicks character!

There’s nothing innovative or mind-blowing about these retros in terms of tech. The fit is comfortable and no-frills. Still, these can be worn all day and not hurt your feet!
