Nike Daybreak SP Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

These Nike Daybreak SP Black / Limelight are a new colorway of an old Nike sneaker from 1979.

I’ve gotten some other vintage nike runner retros recently, and I’m adding to the pile with these!

Similar to the Undercover Daybreak Collab, these come in a black pullout style box. They ship with plain flat white laces and nothing else. Overall besides the box, this is a very simple shoe.

I always liked the Undercover version of these, but found the back wing part a little impractical and wanted something closer to an OG. These basically provide exactly that.

How Are The Materials?

Unlike the Tailwind 79, these don’t have Nike Air, but they cost more, going from $90 to $100. This upgrade is not only reflected in the box, but slightly in the materials. I’m not going to go out on a limb and say the materials are premium, but they are a bit softer than those on the Tailwind. The suedes have that tennis ball feel and the nylon seems durable. Overall the quality on this shoe is good for a $100 Nike.

How Do They Fit?

These Nike Daybreak SP Black / Limelight looked a little small but I went with my true size. These are very comfy in a basic way as in a nice thick midsole in the back and no advanced cushioning to speak of. The shape is nice on feet as well.
