Nike Blazer Low Leather Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

I’ve been a fan of Blazer Mids for a long time, but the lows are also a great addition to any sneaker collection. I’ve grabbed 3 colorways of these Nike Blazer Low Leather.

The Nike Blazer originated in 1973 as a basketball sneaker. It has evolved into a simple casual sneaker that works well in different settings and with different types of looks. The model is a true classic in this sense. Skip to the end of the article if you are looking for links to buy a pair for yourself!

How Do Nike Blazer Lows Fit?

The Nike Blazer Low Leather fit true to size. Some find the fit narrow, so for those with wide feet, a half size up can help.

I stick with the size 9.5 I get in 99% of Nikes such as Jordans, Air Maxes, etc. While a very basic sneaker in terms of there being no tech in the midsole, there is still an acceptible level of comfort overall.

These do need to break in a bit for maximum comfort. That said, the lows are easier to get in and out of than their mid-top counterparts.

There are definitely more comfortable shoes out there, however retro casual sneakers like these are not meant for heavy activity or even lots of walking around. They will definitely work for this once broken in though.

What Features/Extras are typically included?

Other than the orange “VNTG” Nike Sportswear box, and standard flat white laces, these come with no extras.

I’m not expecting much more for a basic shoe like this, where simplicity is already key. The slightly smaller box they come in compared to a typical Nike box results in them taking up less room when stored. More room for more pairs!

I’ve seen limited editions of the sneaker from Nike that have additional laces and other extras. That brings a little more value to the table as far as being a collectable. Still, don’t let the lack of features on these deter you from purchasing a pair. The point of having a simply blocked shoe available in a variety of colorways is for it to be clean and versatile. So when approaching purchasing a pair of Blazers, look to what color combos catch your eye and not so much the collectability of the shoe.

Are Nike Blazer Lows Good Quality?

Most mass produced Nike Blazer Lows have acceptable quality, however the premium releases occasionally offered by Nike provide a step up in this area.

These are all leather with a nylon tongue. I’m seeing a slightly tumbled finish to the white portions of the leather while the swoosh is completely smooth. The materials seem basic overall. I’m not sure if this is synthetic leather or not. To the touch, the leather feels soft yet sturdy in the right places. This could be a byproduct of whatever finish they used. For a sneaker though, it seems good enough for what the shoe is.

These are essentially binge cops, riding a bit of a wave grabbing Blazer mids and lows. Despite basic quality and comfort, I could sport this white/sail + one color combo on a Blazer low anytime! The shoe can look preppy and dressed up, or add to a streetwear outfit.
