After picking up those Air Max Triax 96, I have to continue on with the cult classic retro runner extravaganza! The Nike Air Max2 Light saw a big run of retros in 2019.
The Air Max 2 was released in 1994-95 and famously had multiple air units with different pressures and included an early version of Zoom Air, then known as tensile air. This is a retro of a shoe that dropped around the same time as a lighter weight counterpart to that sneaker. The upper of the Light wound up having a lower cut and an almost entire different appearance. The Blue Lagoon and Habanero pairs both feature some graphics inside the Air Units. All three ship with white laces and a standard orange Nike Sportswear box.
Some sites claim that these Lights were more popular than the standard Air Max2. Whether this is true or not, I feel like I have some solid looking 25-year anniversary retros and I’m excited to get some wears in on these!
How Are The Materials?
These feature a basic Nike GR level of materials from the leather to the suede and mesh. Essentially the leather is nothing special and the suede is felt-like, but this is another nostalgia pickup vs being a “materials shoe”. Thus, I would not expect premium materials – I’m not even sure the originals were sporting stellar leather and suede.
How Do They Fit?
The Air Max2 Light fit true to size and are quite comfortable, if not a little bulky feeling.
As far as how these look on feet, they have a bit of a chunkier vibe, but nothing too extreme. The shoe sports a bit of a blockier look, but overall I’m not bothered by this.
