Finishing up the 5-pack of Infrared-colorblocked Air Max 90 “recrafts”, I present these Nike Air Max 90 OG Hyper Royal. Not only did I have, and sell, my original pair of these, I then went on to get the 2024 version that released. The shoes are nearly identical except for one key difference which I will get to in the materials section of this review.
The OG/Recraft is in reference to the newest AM90 design, which actually borrows a shape closer to the original AM90s.
Similar to the other pairs, we get all the accessories in the hyper royal colorway, including the special 30th Anniversary box, arch supports and hangtag. The only thing not blue are the standard flat white laces these ship with.
I now have all 5 of this series of releases. Although other recrafted colorways are emerging, this is the final pair that is in this colorblocking and I’m glad I own the set. I can highly recommend picking up at least one recraft if you are into Air Max 90s at all!
The newer 2024 release does away with all the extras and ships in a plain orange Nike box with white laces.
How Are The Materials?
You have the general release level of Nike Sportswear quality, except a little better. We still get the “felt” suede, but its just a bit softer this time. The leather looks standard, but is just the slightest bit more plush than your average release.
The 2024 release differs from this by using actual suede instead of the felt suede. The felt is actually softer, but the regular suede used on the 2024 gives the shoe a beefier look, with less creasing around the toebox. An interesting trade off, and I can see benefits to either material set on this otherwise identical pair.
How Do They Fit?
I went true to size with these, and they fit great. The new shape looks nice and pointy on foot, and the toebox dents caused by the skinny box come out when on foot. I find these actually lighter and more comfy than a standard AM90.
2024 pair basically fits the same, but without the inbuilt creasing due to coming in a regular size box. The shape is slightly less pointy, but not boxy or banana-like, so still good.
