Today I’m sporting some Air Max 1 Essentials. Many people slept on these due to them being a GR. Which is a shame, because the Nike Air Max 1 Midnight Navy is exactly the same as any other pair of Air Max 1.
Some folks tend to skip out on GR AM1s but this pair was done right with suede, mesh and a leather swoosh with the gum bottom to finish it off. The quality might not be as good as some premium pairs out there, but it definitely works at the price point.
I find these to fit true to size and to be extremely comfortable for a retro. The comfort doesn’t touch contemporary releases like lunar flyknits or chukkas. Still, I think this is a really clean look and I wish I’d grabbed the black/gum pair as well.
The most important lesson a pair like this teaches is that we shouldn’t ignore pairs just because they’re not hyped collabs. This pair is so clean and so slept on, and now is getting tough to find in stores.
