Nike Air Max 1 Live Together Play Together Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

I don’t pick up many Air Max 1s these days, but when I do, they’re quirky! These Nike Air Max 1 Live Together Play Together are part of a pack that also includes an Air Force 1, Air Raid and Air Vapormax Plus.

The pack celebrates the vibes of the early 90s Live Together Play Together commercials. These were for the Air Raid and feature Spike Lee with an overall message of unity.

It was about time for me to cop an Air Max 1 and I’m pleased with this pickup. I was able to get them for retail even though these sold out on various sites initially. Late stock additions to sneaker boutiques can totally be the hook up sometimes when everyone else has moved on already from a recent release.

How Are The Materials?

These sneakers are comprised of mesh, nylon and two types of suede. All of the materials seem decent. The sneaker is not marked as a quickstrike or premium release and the materials reflect that. The nylon is pretty much just on the tongue and the mesh and felt-like suede is about on par with other GR Air Max 1s. Which is to say not bad, but nothing special either. Around the mudguard we have a black suede that is a bit thicker than the other suede used on the shoe. While this material is not buttery, it is still kind of soft, which is a nice surprise on a release like this. Some may disagree but overall I liked the material used here.

These shoes didn’t come with any extras inside the standard orange Nike box. Other than white flat laces with mismatched yellow and green aglets, that is. They feature a colorful print on the ankle liner and insole. In addition, they have some extra stitching on the outer toebox, and an embroidered peace sign graphic on the rear.

How Do They Fit?

These Nike Air Max 1 Live Together Play Together are comfy at true to size. The fit might be a little snug near the toebox but still very comfortable.

I got my typical Nike size of a 9.5. This is the same size I get in most Nikes including other Air Maxes. I used to go down a half size on Air Max 1s to get the smaller looking shape, but the shape here isn’t that bad at all! Even though the toebox is still a little round, the slope profile is good and pleasing to the eye. These are a fairly comfy Air Max retro, similar to any other Air Max 1 I’ve worn in the past.
