Nike Air Force 1 RealTree Review

Updated February 26, 2026 by Anthony

The Nike Air Force 1 RealTree is part of a larger RealTree camo pack that applies the iconic hunting camouflage pattern across several classic Nike silhouettes. This particular version uses RealTree camo across the overlays with black underlays, striking a balance between visibility and wearability, while other versions in the pack include a fully camo-covered pair and a lighter white and tan version with camo accents.

Designed by Bruce Kilgore and originally released in 1982 as Nike’s first basketball shoe with Air cushioning, the Air Force 1 has since become one of the most recognizable lifestyle sneakers ever made. This version incorporates RealTree camo canvas overlays throughout the upper, along with subtle RealTree branding details and a camo graphic insole, reinforcing the outdoors-inspired theme. While camo has appeared on Nike models before, this pair stands out by applying the pattern extensively across the shoe rather than limiting it to small accent areas. The black/RealTree combo is not quite as eye-popping as the Lenticular Kobe AF1s I just grabbed, but still something different from your typical pair.

I had been considering grabbing one of the RealTree releases, and the Air Force 1 version stood out because it actually showcased the camo in a meaningful way compared to some of the Air Max pairs that only used small hits. While the fully camo-covered version was tempting, this black-based pair felt like the right balance—clearly a camo sneaker, but still versatile. This was also my wife’s favorite from the pack, and getting them for about $110 shipped after a 20% discount from Nike made them an easy pickup.

Packaging is standard Air Force 1 presentation. The shoes come in the classic black AF1 box and include black flat laces and standard metal AF1 dubraes.

Materials

Material-wise, the upper features canvas throughout, with the RealTree camo printed across the overlay panels. The focus here is less on premium material softness and more on the visual execution of the camo pattern. That said, the construction feels solid and well put together, and the canvas gives the sneaker a durable, practical feel that matches the outdoor-inspired theme.

Fit & Comfort

Fit is consistent with the traditional Air Force 1 shape, meaning a roomy true-to-size fit, though many prefer going a half size down. I went true to size and appreciated the extra space. Underfoot comfort is familiar AF1 territory—slightly chunky and old-school, but perfectly fine for everyday casual wear. The canvas upper isn’t overly stiff, so break-in time is reasonable.

If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
