The New Balance 991v2 Grape Sorbet Beechnut brings a bright, sorbet-inspired palette to one of NB’s newest Made in UK silhouettes. These dropped as part of the Grape Sorbet pack, which also included a pink pair.
The 991v2 itself is NB’s 2023 update of the original 991 from 2001, now featuring full-length FuelCell cushioning for a more modern, softer ride and a cleaner, streamlined profile.
This colorway instantly reminded me of the lemonade-looking OG “Citron” Gel Lyte III I foolishly let go years back. It also gave me the perfect excuse to finally grab a 991v2, one of the most talked-about models in the past couple of years. And for $160 shipped from Concepts, it was an easy pickup.
This pair arrives in a standard brown Made in UK box and includes both yellow and grey flat laces.
Materials
Premium suede overlays with mesh underlays and reflective accents on the heel and toe. The suede here has a slightly rougher, textured finish, but still carries that unmistakable Made in UK quality, similar to the 1500s and various Made in USA pairs I’ve collected. Still get a soft, supple feel overall from the materials.
Fit & Comfort
The 991v2 fits slightly narrow at true to size, more “snug” than “tight”. For me, the snugness is comfortable and secure, especially after a short break-in period. Underfoot, the FuelCell setup feels firm, cushioned, and stable – classic NB comfort with a modern twist. Wide footers may want to try before buying or go through a retailer with easy returns, but I don’t expect major issues at true to size. Overall, it’s a very comfy casual wear option.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
