Another Converse collab lands in the collection with the Converse Star Player 76 Ox x Daily Paper, a release tied to Daily Paper’s Rise Through the Ropes collection. Daily Paper is an Amsterdam-based fashion brand known for blending African heritage, culture, and modern streetwear, and that influence is front and center here.
The shoe takes inspiration from boxing culture and the idea of “Everyday Champions,” celebrating resilience and African heritage through subtle but meaningful design choices. This pair released alongside a white high-top Converse option as part of the same pack.
The Star Player 76 Ox itself is a retro take on a classic 1970s Converse basketball silhouette, with the “Ox” simply denoting the low-top cut. What separates the Star Player from the One Star is the additional Star Chevron logo, giving it a slightly more athletic, vintage hoops feel. On this Daily Paper version, pan-African colors (red, yellow, and green) are worked into the Star Chevron, while multi-colored star motifs appear throughout the interior. We also get cobranded hits on the heel license plate and insole, plus a translucent outsole that adds a modern twist to the otherwise classic look.
I grabbed these from Rooted for around $55 shipped, which felt like an easy decision. The African-inspired color accents really pop against the black upper, and the multi-star detailing helps this pair stand out from standard Star Players. A very strong contender for my final pickup of 2025.
Packaging comes in a cobranded yellow, red, and green box, and the shoes include both shaggy white laces and black laces to switch up the look.
Materials
The upper is constructed from durable canvas, which is typical for Converse. While nothing about the materials is groundbreaking, the build quality is solid and feels elevated for a collab at this price point. Overall, the price-to-quality ratio is excellent here.
Fit & Comfort
These fit true to size and feature an OrthoLite insole for added underfoot comfort. The padded collar makes them noticeably more comfortable than classic Chuck Taylors, though this is still very much an old-school Converse feel. They’re perfectly fine for casual wear, just don’t expect modern, all-day cushioning.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
