Today I’m sporting the Nike Dunk Low SB Wizard of Oz and they are definitely one of the more interesting pairs I’ve worn. These were designed in collaboration with Iowa sneaker store The Full Kit, seeing as both the Wizard of Oz and Iowa are famous for tornadoes!

So, what’s the deal with the sneaker collection (Seinfeld Voice)? Right around 2008, I’d just lost a lot of weight and was in need of an entirely new wardrobe. I was in the process of buying newer, smaller clothes and the time came for a new pair of shoes. Rather than pick some ordinary pair like I normally would, I opted for a more interesting and unique looking pair. The response from others was so strong and positive that I decided to look more into the different kinds of cool sneakers and discovered that collecting sneakers is similar to collecting comics, baseball cards, or any other of the numerous hobbies I had when I was a kid! I’ve been into sneakers ever since – to the extent that I even got an article written about me in the paper! I’ve also been collector of the month in Solecollector Magazine (issue #47)!
I built up a lot of my collection looking for deals on slept-on pairs! I also post deals I find on this very site when I have time.
As for the photography aspect, check out any Sneaker related websites (there are many), and you will typically find posts filled with awesome, artsy footwear shots. I like learning about cameras and taking interesting shots, and it turns out there are actually sites online where you can get recognized for both your collection and photography skills at the same time! You can check out some of my most recent shots below. If you’re curious, I currently shoot with a Nikon D3100 (Amazon link) and mostly use a 50mm lens.
My eBay account is where I list my current sneakers available for sale (if I happen to be selling any).
Here are some quick links to different categories of sneakers:

Today I’m sporting these Converse CTAS Pro Ox in a Red & White colorway. The materials are pretty straightforward here – red suede with white rubber. These come packaged with red and white laces. CTAS Pro Ox are part of Converse’ skate line, so the uppers are a tad more sturdy than regular canvas chucks. Also, thanks to the business relationship between Nike and Converse, these feature a Lunarlon insole for extra lightweight comfort.

Adidas ZX Flux Electric Yellow

These Adidas ZX Flux in the electric yellow colorway are definitely some very comfortable head-turners! They ship with yellow and black laces and have the standard lightweight mesh upper found on most early ZX Flux models. A yellow deubré finishes off the look.
Vans Half Cab Pro Tan/Black

Today I’m sporting some Vans Half Cab Pro in a Tan/Black colorway. These feature rough black suede, a canvas tongue, soft smooth leather/nubuck around the collar, and soft buttery tan suede on the toebox, tongue tag and side logo. They came laced with black waxed laces and include a spare set of regular black laces.

For the 25th anniversary of the Air Max 90, Nike went in with multiple releases displaying various takes on the “infrared” color scheme. They’ve given this pair the Air Max 90 OG moniker.
