I’ve reviewed this model before, but not in depth. The New Balance 998 came out in the late 80s and is known for material quality throughout its various releases and wide-foot friendly comfort.

The New Balance 998 is one of my favorite New Balance models. It is one of the first NB’s I ever collected. Pretty much all the pairs I own or have owned in the past are part of the Made In USA line.
When it comes to materials, the 998 really shines. I’ve often thought that it has the best and softest suede of any Made In USA NB I’ve acquired. I will say the shape is not my favorite, as we don’t get that sharp profile like we do on the 997. Still, the extra room makes for a very comfortable pair of kicks!
