Asics is becoming another go-to low cost / high quality brand. The Asics Gel-Respector Moon Rock is a fine example of this!
These came out alongside a black and grey version in a pack. The shoe gets its name from the colorway
The colorway here is basically tan and grey. As such, I’d avoid pairing these with khakis or grey pants. Instead, I opt for some darker pants and a grey sweatshirt or hoodie. These could probably also stand up to the classic white tee and light wash denim look.
These were a steal for me any way you slice it. I’ve always been a fan of the Gel-Respector, and if you know what to look for, such as build and material quality, you can hardly do worse than these. Even at full retail these would be worth it!
Materials
The materials on these are great! Suede covers the shoe and is super nice. GR Asics can be very surprising. At the cost I paid for these (less than 50% off shipped), the materials rival that of brands many times more costly. New Balance and Silver Box SB heads probably won’t find these to be on par with that, but for a general release from 2016 these are as awesome as it gets!
Fit
The Asics Gel-Respector Moon Rock fits well at true size. I was able to go down a half size due to the materials and these fit comfortably and look even better on foot! I prefer a snug fit on retro runners like these, and the shape with that fit is tough to beat!
