I like all red kicks. There’s something bold and strong about a bright red colorway and these Asics Gel Lyte V Red definitely fit the bill.
They might not be 100% red but they are close enough to have the effect! They released at the same time as a black pair with red hits. Some websites claim that these are part of a “vampire pack”. However, I think that is just a nickname some sites are using rather than an official name from Asics, similar to a couple of silver box SB’s back in the day.
There’s really two looks that work with these kicks. Either severe or neutral. With the severe look, we’re talking black pants and a black top. This will accent the “danger” vibe of an all red shoe. In my case, I like to go with a more neutral fit featuring greys and medium blue denim. This helps actually tone down the extreme look of kicks like these.
When it comes to red kicks with black accents, these definitely stand tall! Also, these were heavily slept on, which means they are easy to find for under retail.
How Are The Materials?
We have a suede and mesh upper with synthetic leather Asics striping. The quality on these is actually pretty good for a GR pair of Asics. At least, the suede is soft and the construction seems solid. All in all I’m satisfied with the materials used and the overall build of the sneaker.
How Do They Fit?
These Asics Gel Lyte V Red fit true to size and are very comfy! At true size they are snug but not uncomfortable for me. Also, the shape on these is great! We have a perfect pointy toe retro runner with little to no need to reshape the toebox. These also seem extra lightweight for a pair of Gel Lyte V’s which is a good thing!
