The ASICS GEL-K1011 is a modern hybrid lifestyle runner introduced in early 2025, combining design cues from late-1990s and early-2000s GEL-Kayano archive silhouettes while incorporating updated midsole technology for improved comfort. This particular “Live Oak” colorway stands out through its nature-driven palette, mixing rugged suedes, open-weave mesh, muted purples, and golden accents to reinforce the tree-inspired concept.
I had been eyeing this pair since its Fall 2025 release but held off at full retail. Once Sneaker Politics discounted the pair, I was able to combine rewards and pick them up for about $116 shipped, which made the decision easy. The Live Oak theme also resonated with me personally, having grown up in a city known for its oak trees, so the storytelling behind this release made it even more appealing.
Packaging is straightforward, as the sneakers arrive in the standard brown ASICS box and come equipped with greige oval laces that match the earthy color palette.
Materials
Material quality is a strong point here. The upper features mesh underlays paired with multiple suede overlay textures, ranging from smooth to hairy finishes, helping create a convincing “bark-like” visual effect across the panels. The layered materials feel sturdy and well constructed, and the variety of textures adds depth that reinforces the theme while delivering solid overall quality worthy of an Asics collab.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is true to size and very comfortable, thanks to Dual GEL inserts and FLYTEFOAM cushioning, which provide a soft yet supportive ride. Step-in comfort is strong, and the shoe performs well for casual wear over several hours—or even all day—while maintaining good stability.
