The Air Jordan 8 Aqua returns again in 2025, bringing back one of the more unique OG colorways in the Jordan lineup, first worn by Michael Jordan during the 1993 NBA All-Star Game.
The Aqua 8 stands alongside pairs like the Grape 5 and True Blue 3 as one of those “oddball” original colorways that didn’t match the Bulls’ uniforms but became a classic in its own right. This 2025 version isn’t billed as a 1:1 OG reissue, but it definitely sharpens things up compared to the last retro in 2015.
Compared to that previous release, the grey hits on the back panels are lighter, the suede feels a bit smoother and less synthetic, and the glitter effect on the midsole is dialed back. I also think the shape is more inline with the OG pairs — sleeker than the 2015 pair. I had that 2015 version and let them go, but when these dropped on SNKRS, I couldn’t resist bringing them back into the collection.
The pair ships in the typical black lid/grey bottom Jordan box with black laces included — no surprises there.
Materials
The upper combines a soft nubuck/suede with very short hair on the black panels, while the grey sections use a slightly rougher suede with a longer nap. These materials won’t blow your mind, but compared to past retros, I think this pair feels like a step up in texture and overall finish. No premium vibes, but good for a GR Jordan 8 release.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is true to size. Like other 8s, these feature the inner neoprene bootie which gives a snug, sock-like fit on-foot. They’re still bulky, warm, and not the most breathable — typical Jordan 8 things. That said, they’re totally fine for casual wear and still offer decent comfort if you’re not trying to wear them all day.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
