The Air Jordan 11 “Legend Blue” returned for Holiday 2024 — and brought back that iconic white and blue colorway that originally dropped in 1996 as the “Columbia” during MJ’s lone NBA All-Star appearance in these.
2024’s pair improves on the 2014 version with a higher-cut patent leather that more closely resembles the OG. The shape is also slightly refined, giving the sneaker a sleeker silhouette overall.
I’ve been on a bit of a Jordan retro kick lately, and this was a must-cop for me. Found them sitting for retail on Shoe Palace and jumped on it. I know these icy soles will yellow with time, but brand new? They look so clean. That crisp white upper and translucent outsole really pop in hand.
The pair ships in the standard grey Jordan box with the black lid, and includes white rope laces — kind of lame, compared to the special boxes we used to get with the holiday 11 releases.
Materials
The upper uses thin patent leather cuts around the toe, which gives the shoe a softer feel compared to older versions. While this does make them more comfortable, it also feels like a step down in material quality. You’re not getting that old-school, armored AJ11 feel here. Underneath the patent, though, there’s a stiffer leather backing that provides a bit more structure. Overall, these feel more like a sign of the times — comfort-forward, but not quite what collectors of the original might expect in terms of toughness.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is true to size, with the usual AJ11 stiffness at first. They break in decently with wear and are manageable for casual use. Comfort isn’t anything wild — it’s retro tech after all — but that thinner patent leather might actually make these more wearable day-to-day. That said, there’s not much ventilation, so keep that in mind if you plan to rock these in warmer weather.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
