The Air Jordan 1 Yellow Ochre continues Jordan Brand’s recent trend of blending familiar colorblocking with bold new tones. Based on the same layout as the popular University Blue pair from 2021, this version swaps in a vibrant yellow ochre shade that brings strong Chicago-style vibes with a twist. The result is a colorway that feels both fresh and classic at the same time!
I’ve been trying to scoop up a few Jordan 1s I missed in 2024 now that prices have dipped in 2025, and when I saw these for $125 shipped on Reynolds and Sons, I had to pull the trigger. At that price, with the color pop and the mix of materials, it felt like a steal. I love a black and yellow colorway, and it’s dope to have that on a pair of J1s now.
These come in a sail-colored box with yellow ochre accents and Nike branding to match the theme of the shoe. Inside, you’ll find two sets of laces: sail and black. I’m liking how the AJ1s get the color-matched packaging these days. It’s a nice twist that I think many collectors might take for granted.
Materials
The upper features a mix of materials, with tumbled-style leather (not overtumbled though!) used on the toe box, quarter panel and collar. We get some smooth leather on the Swoosh, and a soft nubuck across the yellow overlays. The nubuck has a short, flat texture — not the type that shifts with movement — but it feels solid and well-finished. How often are you going to be rubbing things across a yellow nubuck anyway? I’ll probably be trying to AVOID things contacting this part of the shoe to keep it clean! Overall, I’d say the quality here is slightly above average compared to many recent Jordan 1 OG High releases.
Fit & Comfort
These fit true to size and follow the trend of newer AJ1s being a touch roomier than pairs from the 2000s and early 2010s. The shape feels improved and slightly more ergonomic than older retros. While not packed with modern tech, they’re more comfortable out of the box than older pairs and perfectly fine for all-day casual wear.
