While the AJ1 Sports Illustrated has the fancy swoosh, these Air Jordan 1 Turbo Green have… some writing on the side panel. The shoe is meant to be “vintage” looking and has a worn look with exposed tongue padding.
The kicks get their name from the colorway and come with sets of white, purple and blue laces. The side panel writing reads “SP 19 Air Jordan 1 High OG”.
Basically I would go with lighter clothing for these, but avoid extremely light washes. I feel like these work the best with grey or khaki colored denim. I suppose black denim could work but I believe the lighter colors are a more suitable look. Pair up a grey or white based top and you’re good to go!
I can’t deny that the colorway is what sold me on these. The eggshell colored midsole and beat up bluish green upper really gives these a certain look that I enjoy. While the material quality is a tad disappointing, it’s understandable given the vibe of the shoe. After all, it is said that AJ1s look better the more they are worn, and these kind of give you a head start!
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are meant to be rough and to have a vintage effect. Thus, the suede is rather rough and the leather has that tumbled “texturing” done to it. Overall, I would not buy these for the material, but rather the look and colorway.
How Do They Fit?
Many Nikes fit narrow, and these are no exception. I went with my true Nike size on the Air Jordan 1 Turbo Green. They’re comfy for hanging out in, and short walks, but I’d avoid doing any serious activity in these as they can fatigue your feet within a few hours. Remember, these are more about looks and style than long lasting comfort and support.
