I recently reviewed the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Rare Air Cool Grey and I liked them so much I went and grabbed the other colorway in Gym Red.
These share the same principle as the other pair; an Air Jordan 1 with “AIR JORDAN” where the wings logo would be, and switchable velcro patches for the tongue tag. The default tag with no patch is a red “RARE AIR” on a black background. The tongue tag options include a red on black Jumpman patch and it’s reverse along with a white “RARE AIR” patch.
The materials are basic – an all leather upper except for a textile on the tongue and collar. Just like the other pair, the leather is soft, smooth and just nice overall. These are definitely a cut above typical GR Air Jordan 1 mids in terms of leather quality. In my opinion, its the look of the shoe with the all white midsole and outsole (normally a turn off in a shoe) that really makes these great – they somehow exude an upscale vibe.
These fit narrow like most Air Jordan 1s. I recommend going no smaller than true to size. Even with that, I’m lacing these somewhat loosely. The cushioning is ok, nothing special but not uncomfortable.
