I think the last pair of Jordan 1s I picked up before these were the Vachetta Tan Lows. The Air Jordan 1 Mid Top 3 are a mid-cut take on the High version of the same name. Unlike the highs, the color blocking is consistent from left shoe to right. These came with red and white laces.
This is one of those kicks that looks good with almost any combination of clothes as long as it is simple. Aside from sporting a completely USA/patriotic type fit, of course.
I would stick to black, dark blue, khaki or light wash denim and a black or white top to kick things off. Mix in a red or blue hit/accessory to complete the look.
All in all, this is kind of a quirky pickup for me for these, considering I usually don’t consider buying Jordan 1 mids. However, sometimes I gotta get quirky with the pickups, and I’m betting many sneakerheads won’t be rocking these – although random non-collectors probably will. I’m happy with this pickup.
How Are The Materials?
Some of the materials are nicer than expected, others are on par. Overall the leather was better than I was expecting for a pair of AJ1 mids, which typically use super plasticky and stiff textures. This time around we have a feaux-tumbled leather on the white parts of the shoe, slightly smoother on the red and kind of shiny on the blue. The shininess of the blue leather is probably my least favorite part on the shoe. These also have some very soft short-haired suede/microfiber type material on the black panels. It’s not lush/color changing/top quality but it is soft and better than expected. Finally, these have a neat thin metallic-ish double swoosh.
How Do They Fit?
The Air Jordan 1 Mid Top 3 fit true to size. My feet fit awkwardly in these, but they are still comfortable overall. Since AJ1s aren’t known for their comfort, the looks and sleek shape come more into play and these have a good level of both. Overall these are tolerably comfortable and look great. I would avoid sizing down.
