The Air Jordan 1 UNC Reimagined brings back a fan-favorite colorway with a vintage twist. Just like the Chicago Reimagined release, the theme here plays on the idea of a pair of Jordans lost in time — left behind in an attic or closet and rediscovered years later, aged but still iconic. It’s an OG colorway brought back with a new twist, and my first time owning UNC AJ1s.
This colorway is a send up to Michael Jordan’s UNC days. The University Blue leather overlays are crisp and bright, and the cracked/vintaged underlays are thankfully lighter in hand than they appeared in Nike’s stock photos. Additionally, the outsole has a bit of a chalky “aged” look. The yellowed tongue and midsole finish the vintage vibe.
I actually hit on SNKRS on release day, which felt great — it’s been a while since I picked up a Jordan 1 High, and this was a nice return. The fact that it was easy to grab made it even better. Why not come back with an OG colorway — just with a twist?
Packaging-wise, you get a flip-flopped version of the Chicago Reimagined box, with an orange base and black lid. The box itself has a pre-worn, weathered look to drive home the “lost and found” theme. Inside are two sets of laces: a sail pair and an extra set in University Blue.
Materials
As for materials, the shoe uses cracked leather across the white toe box, midfoot panel, ankle collar, and heel. It gives off a well-worn, aged aesthetic without feeling overdone. We get a fairly nice smooth leather on the overlays. I feel like the quality is pretty good on these, of course nothing crazy, but definitely not disappointing either.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is what you’d expect from a Jordan 1 — solid, supportive, and true to size. Not the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn, but I feel like Nike has improved the comfort somewhat throughout the years. It’s not packed with modern tech, but for everyday wear, it holds up just fine.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
