Adidas Ozweego Review

Updated September 6, 2019 by Anthony

I’ve been picking up newer Adidas models here and there and loving it, so you know I was all over these Adidas Ozweego X Model.

The trick for a nice modern dad shoe is being bulky in the right places while still being somewhat sleek and aerodynamic. The Ozweego nails that combo and serves as a more cost-effective version of that style. These feel similar to some of the lines Puma has been releasing over the last couple of years. I totally love how these look!

The X Model pack includes a couple of kicks and in some places this particular Ozweego colorway is listed as an Adidas Consortium release. The release also retails at $10 more than a typical colorway for these.

Ozweego History

The original Ozweego came out as a runner/trainer in 1996, featuring adidas’ adiPRENE cushioning in the front of the shoe.

A year later the Ozweego 2 would release, making the side panel design a bit more sleek.

When the 3 came out, many changes were implemented such as the side panel look changing, more/different mesh in the uppers, the addition of adiPRENE+ to the shoe (similar to the Yeezy 500), and the addition of Torsion in the midsole.

The Ozweego 4, 5 and Millienium would all add updated designs.

Eventually, designer Raf Simons helped update the design, and some might argue helped bring the chunky dad shoe trend into focus.

How Are The Materials?

This latest Ozweego updates the 3 with TPU uppers, retaining the adiPrene and adiPrene+ in the midsole and feature a mostly mesh construction with suede overlays. There is also some leather around the eyelets.

Overall, the materials seem good for what this shoe is. It’s not a premium release, and the suede and leather used are not plush, but they do the trick for a mostly TPU/mesh based shoe. I’m not blown away on materials obviously, but I’m still happy with these.

How Do Adidas Ozweego Fit?

These Adidas Ozweego fit true to size. The sneakers feel very comfortable on feet thanks to the adiPrene cushioning and lightweight uppers.

AdiPrene may not get the shine that Boost does, but it’s still a very viable technology for a casual sneaker!
