It’s been a minute since I rocked some Flyknit, but with shoes like the Nike Flyknit Trainer Triple Black, I’m definitely down to keep adding in these types of kicks to the collection.
Many view these kicks as the younger brother of the Flyknit Racer, however I think they stand completely on their own.
It’s an all black shoe so… literally throw anything on and it’s going to look good! As long as you avoid dark brown pants you should be ok. You can go with light wash denim, dark wash, black, joggers, even khakis with these. The main stipulation is a narrow ankle, do not rock these with straight or relaxed fit pants. The taper is going to help you pull the flyknit look off best. As for tops, just rock a black, white or grey top depending on what type of pants you chose to finish off the combo.
It’s tough to resist the instinct to sell everything and just get flyknit and boost on every shoe. That’s how comfy these newer runners are. Still, even retros are comfy in their own way and you don’t get the same vibe with these. Although these technically are also a retro at this point! In any case, if you missed the flyknit train before, you now have another chance to hop back on!
How Are The Materials?
These have an all flyknit upper with some visible flywire, so quality isn’t as big of a factor here, just know it’s good. Its tough to judge vs a retro with plush suede or leather, since this is a different type of shoe. However, construction is solid on these and they are incredibly lightweight. I think overall you would be buying this shoe for the features the materials offer (weight, breathability) vs quality of textiles used.
How Do They Fit?
Just go true to size on the Nike Flyknit Trainer – these are so comfortable! There’s not much else I can say, if you like good fitting runners, get these!
