Diamond Supply Co x Puma Suede Orchid Bloom Review

Updated June 19, 2018 by Anthony

I haven’t bought a Diamond collab in awhile or a pair of Puma Suedes for that matter. The Diamond Supply Co x Puma Suede Orchid Bloom is me getting back on my Puma Suede game.

These came out in a set with some other sneakers and is probably the second or third wave of DSC x Puma kicks. This shoe has a number of details including a Diamond shoe label on the back of the box, special Diamond x Puma print on the box paper and insole, and Diamond branding on the tongue tag and the rear of the shoe.

The shoe also features some of the trademark croc print on the swoosh and metal aglets on both the black and purple included laces.

I would go with black or light blue pants with these. Thankfully the black and lavender colorway lends itself well to dark or light combinations depending on when you’re wearing these. A grey top can help you complete the look regardless which direction you go with it.

Normally, DSC collabs infer tiffany blue and black as the color combo, so I had to grab these just off the sheer uniqueness of a Diamond product being purple. While this collab isn’t limited at all and can be had below retail, I feel like the looks and thought put into the details on the shoe really makes these stand out. While I don’t rock tons of Diamond t-shirts and gear anymore, I do still keep a lookout for dope sneaker collabs from them, and these prove I need to still do that moving forward!

How Are The Materials?

The materials on these have a “pre-vintaged” look to them, so shaggy suede and a yellowed midsole are part of the package. Overall the suede feels rough but not of poor quality although the Puma stripes are not soft at all even though they look like they would be. Still easy to overlook considering they’re using the iconic croc print. Still, the debossed logo on the back of the shoe is a bit softer and I wish they’d have stayed consistent on the Puma striping. The ankle liner appears to be a soft leather which is a nice surprise. Overall the materials aren’t amazing but they’re not cheap or terrible either, striking a good balance of aesthetic and quality.

How Do They Fit?

These Diamond Supply Co x Puma Suede Orchid Bloom fit a little big. I went a half size down and these fit pretty perfectly. They’re a little heavier than the runners I’ve been wearing lately, but also feel solid and beefy on foot in a good way. Not to mention these are very comfortable!
